A Little Update From Us

Edit-4.jpg

Hi friends,

How are you all holding up?

I think we can all agree that it’s been a rough few weeks, and frankly, I’ve been struggling with The Dapple’s direction in this current moment.

I was knocked out for two weeks with a bad flu—we think it was just flu—and when I resurfaced, I just felt completely unsure what to write in this space. After all, even at the best of times, it’s a privilege to be able to splurge on dog treats and accessories. I kept wondering if anyone would even be interested in a dog blog given the state of the world.

But this week, as I sat on the couch (where else!), panic-reading the New York Times and rubbing Dave’s little bald belly, I realized that this crisis hasn’t made me care any less about being a great pup-parent. And it probably hasn’t made you care any less either.

Instead, what’s changed for me is just that I want to spend less—I want to be thrifty and I want to find creative ways to keep our two dogs happy in a 1200 square foot townhouse.

And when I do buy toys or treats or gear for our dogs, I want to make sure that I’m spending in a way that matters. Especially if I’m shopping less, I really want to ensure that the purchases I do make contribute to the livelihoods of the small business owners who are feeling this crisis the most.

Moving forward through this crazy time, we’ll be featuring free and thrifty ways to make the most out of pup-parenthood during quarantine. But we’ll also be doubling down on showing off the creations of our favorite small business owners and highlighting ways to support them.

We hope you’ll be patient with us as we figure this all out. We love you guys, and we’re looking forward to getting through this together.

Wags and kisses,

Heather, Josh, Dave, and Lizzie
