How We Kept the Dogs Happy and Healthy on Our Road Trip
This post was created in partnership with Stella & Chewy’s, but all opinions are our own.
I think we can all agree that every road trip is only as good as the snacks you bring along.
As most of you already know, this week we packed up our little NYC apartment and drove our family across the country to start a new chapter in Seattle. Yes, we really did decide to do a 43-hour drive with two dogs. Was it crazy? Maybe.
One of my top priorities for the trip was to keep the dogs happy and healthy, even if they were going to have to log some long hours in the car. Luckily for me, this month Stella & Chewy’s sent us some of their brand new Lil’ Bites dog food to try out. The Lil’ Bites meals are specially crafted for small dogs with bite-size portions that easily fit into little mouths. They’re also chock-full of ingredients that keep smaller pups nourished—superfoods like organic blueberries, chia seeds, and turmeric.
I’ve blogged about this before, but I love knowing that only the highest quality ingredients go into Stella & Chewy’s products. Their foods don’t contain hormones, gluten, antibiotics, corn, or artificial flavorings. All the fruit and veggies are organic and the meat is grass-fed. No road-trip junk food here!
With long days of driving and no refrigerator to keep produce fresh, it can be really tough to stay healthy on a long road trip—for dogs or humans. But Lil’ Bites made it easy to keep the dogs healthy. No mixing, no refrigerator, no mess. All you have to do is add water. It was easy-peasy for me and gave us one less thing to worry about on the road.
Of course, my very favorite part of feeding the dogs Lil’ Bites during our road trip was that they absolutely loved it. Both Dave and Lizzie were so sweet and patient during our long days in the car. It felt great to reward them with a yummy meal at the end of each day. I think you can tell from our pictures how much they loved it. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
If you’ve been thinking about trying out Stella & Chewy’s Lil’ Bites, we’ve got a printable $5 off coupon that you can find here. We bet your pup will love it as much as ours do—at home or on the road. 🐾
