We Tried It: Our Review of Wag Butter
Snacktime just got a whole lot butter 👌🏼
Confession—we are a peanut-butter-obsessed family.
Yep, every single member of our little family pretty much eats peanut butter daily. Josh eats it on Ritz crackers, Birdie eats it on her apple slices, and Dave and Lizzie and I just like eating it off of a spoon.
But even though I love sharing peanut butter with the dogs, I often worry about what’s in the big jars of grocery-store peanut butter that I share with them. I know to avoid major no-no ingredients like xylitol, but beyond that, I’m a little unsure of what’s actually good for the dogs.
That’s why I was absolutely thrilled to discover Wag Butter from Big Spoon Roasters. Wag Butter is a special small-batch peanut butter created with dogs’ needs in mind. The unique blend of protein, Omega-3 fatty acids, potassium, pre-biotic fiber, and Vitamin C promotes healthy muscles, joints, skin, and coats.
We got to try out some of Big Spoon Roasters’ Pumpkin Spice Wag Butter, as well as their Banana Flax Wag Butter—and no surprise, both were a huge hit in our house! Each blend is formulated to be healthy for both dogs and humans, which I loved because they both smelled SO good.
The Pumpkin Spice Butter has four ingredients—peanuts, pumpkin, cinnamon, and ginger—while the Banana Flax Wag Butter has just three—peanuts, banana, and flaxseed meal. They’re both completely delicious, but I especially loved the Pumpkin Spice flavor. The cinnamon gave it such a warm and rich taste. To be honest, I couldn’t tell if the dogs had a preferred flavor because they went completely crazy for both.
The best part is that I love that Big Spoon Roasters is a company I can feel good about shopping from—they source their organic and GMO-free ingredients from ecologically-sustainable farmers, pay their employees a living wage, and make all their nut butters in small batches at their headquarters in North Carolina. More about all of that here, if you’re interested.
You all know that I’m a sucker for pretty packaging, too, and I have to say that I absolutely loved the gorgeous jars and labels on Wag Butter. It think it’s going to become a go-to gift for pup friends because each jar truly felt so thoughtfully-made and special.
I think Wag Butter has become a new must-have product in our house, and I can’t wait to try more of Big Spoon Roasters’ nut butters for humans when I order more. (I’m coming for you, Chocolate Sea Salt Almond Butter!) I’m thrilled to have found a peanut butter that I can feel good about feeding the dogs—both for their health and for the planet. 🐾
