We Tried It: PetPlate
We tried the pup-ular new pet food. And we've got a promo code to share!
You guys. This is a really big deal—I think I may have found The One.
Believe it or not, I'm actually talking about dog food. I think I've finally found the dog food that I'm ready to commit to forever and ever. It's a big deal!
Here's what's been holding me back from commitment:
1) Kibble feels like feeding the dogs cereal every meal. That's not something I would do to my own body, and even though I'd die defending my right to eat the marshmallows out of Lucky Charms, it's definitely not something I'd do to my dogs' bodies either.
2) Human-grade dog food is SO expensive.
3) As great as it feels to see recognizable ingredients in my dogs' bowls, I'm always a little nervous about where those ingredients came from.
4) This is a dumb personal one, but I used to be a vegetarian/vegan and I get really grossed out when I open the fridge and see plastic baggies or cans of ground mystery meat and little crumbles of meat on the shelves. I think we can all agree that dog food looks pretty ick.
Enter PetPlate. We initially discovered PetPlate through Instagram and were sold on its commitment to farm-fresh ingredients and all-natural foods.* Plus, their plans start at under $3 a day, which if you ask me, is a whole lot better than most human-grade dog food subscription services.
PetPlate currently comes in two flavors—Oven Roasted Turkey and Farmhouse Beef. They're completely transparent about their vet-created ingredient list (which to me is a total 🙌) and you can see the recipes they use on their website. In fact, PetPlate was originally created because its founder worked as a consultant and saw the ingredients going into mass-produced dog food. He was horrified and knew there had to be a better way to feed the pets we love. There's more about his story here. (You might have seen him on Shark Tank!)
This may sound silly, but the final selling point for me on PetPlate was the neat little re-sealable plastic tubs. I absolutely love that I can mix a quarter of a tub with the dogs' kibble, reseal it, and not see mystery meat lurking in the fridge when I come looking for a yogurt.
Oh, and did I mention that the pups love it? It's a huge hit with both Dave and Lizzie. And it seems to be making, umm, potty breaks a little easier, which is no surprise since both recipes pack high-fiber ingredients like sweet potatoes and pumpkin.
We love PetPlate and highly recommend it. Plus, if you don't love it as much as we do, they offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee. You can use our this link for 50% off your first order.
Hope you guys find The One, too!
